Hey Scott, What’s On Your iPhone?

March 13, 2009

There’s a thread on a lawyer listserve I’m on about what apps lawyers have on their iPhones.

Here’s what’s on an atypical lawyer’s iPhone (that would be me) and a brief description where necessary:

Google

VoiceBoxDial (voice dialing)

AP Mobile News

Facebook

Flashlight (turns your iPhone into a flashlight)

Kindle for iPhone

Tweetie (Twitter client)

Google Talk (not so good on iPhone)

QuickVoice (voice recorder)

Yelp (restaurant reviews)

Units (converts units so you know how many kilometers are in a mile, etc.)

Sportacular (sports scores at your fingertips)

WordPress (so I can quickly throw out a blog post to everyone)

WiFinder (tells me what wifi connections in the area I can mooch off of)

Evernote (great note taking utility across many platforms)

Amazon (take a picture of something in a store, Amazon will instantly email you prices)

Google reader (great for the “office”)

Pandora (internet radio that allows creating your own channels)

Tip (calculates tips)

Fart for Free (an app for the very sophisticated)

Bubble Snap (useless game that annoys people)

Last.fm (kinda like Pandora (see above))

Lakers (Lakers’ schedule at my fingertips)

SalePrice (quickly calculates price discounts)

Ustream (so I can watch Keyees & Midas camera stream)

AOL Radio (more internet radio)

Shazam (turn this bad boy on and it will instantly ID songs that are playing)

Calif Traffic (traffic app by my peeps at UCSD)

Remote (turns iPhone into a remote for iTunes)

BubbleWrap (allows you to create more annoying noises with your iPhone)

i.tv (kinda like TV Guide)

iHandy Level (turns iPhone into a level in the event someone asks me to hang a frame)

Fixster (movie previews/trailers)

TV.com (tv programs from CBS, CW, cnet, etc)

All of the above are free except Tweetie.

I don’t have an iphone, but I assume there’s a built-in calculator, yet you still need a tip calculator and a sales price calculator???

Sadly, yes those are necessities for me.

Why use an abacus when you can use a calculator? Why use a calculator if you can use an iPhone app?

you forgot to mention who kicks your butt in the bubble wrap game.
