SOS Breast Cancer Survivor Dragon Boat Team
I just watched television program KCET did on the SOS (“Save Our Sisters”) Breast Cancer Dragon Boat Team.
Paddling out of Miami, Florida. These ladies are an inspiration to us all. The piece showcased a few of the SOS women.
KCET did a great job capturing how heroic these ladies are and the impact the sport of dragon boating has had on them. Not to be forgotten is SOS’s community service. By staying active and visible in the community, they are teaching all of us about breast cancer – a disease that kills someone every 68 seconds.
SOS paddles out of the Miami Rowing Club on Key Biscayne, Florida. A few of us LARD member paddled here during our trip to Miami for Oliver’s wedding. Mmmmm, I can feel the humidity.
The program showed SOS paddling quite a bit both on dragon boat (BuK) and oc2. I was very impressed with the level of paddling these ladies have attained. Keep up the solid work, SOS!

Scott, don’t forget our very own LA Pink Dragons. The team has rally progressed this past year — we are stronger in numbers as well as strength with coaching help from LARD. Now, if I can only stop getting into stupid accidents! Unfortunately, we have one member that is seriously ill and will not make it through for the next season. Peggy Knight was one of the very first paddlers on our team. Though we have lost some members due to cancer, we have not lost our hope and our spirit. Keep encouraging us on our survival journey.
How can I forget about the Pinks?
The Pinks are as heroic to me as any BCS team. If only everyone had such courage.
HI,thanks for watching ALL In the Same Boat.
Anyone out there is going to Peterborough, Canada. I will like to see if a good photographer is going to be around. I need great shoots of my team SOS while competing.
