Although wikidpedia is not the end all be all, the history of the word “Chinaman” and “Nigger” have a similar development over time.

If he is actually from China, I think it’s not that bad. Like saying Frenchman if he were from France. Also (most important), it wasn’t said in any derogatory way. If he said “way to screw up the play, Chinaman.” then it would have been different, but he said “NICE dunk by the Chinaman.” Hey, when do we hear “dunk” and “Chinaman” in the same sentence? Um, never? So I’ll refrain from sending my ninja assassins to this commentators house.

Also also, there’s nothing inherently derogatory in “China” or “man” so that phrase never really bothered me, especially since I grew up being called a chink all the time.
