Is the Future of the Vancouver Rio Tinto Alcan Dragon Boat Festival in Jeopardy?

With the financial downturn hitting everyone hard, the future of the Vancouver dragon boat tournament as we know it may be affected.  There’s an interesting thread on Dragon Boat West on this subject.

    On a tangent note, I think we’ll be seeing more people selling their OC1s.

    Curling tournaments on the east coast aren’t huge events like DB festivals. We certainly don’t have sponsors. But we have definitely seen a dropoff in getting out-of-town teams to participate, and I imagine there will be a similar trend on the liquid water come the spring. Throw in all the extra logistics of running a DBFest and tightening sponsors’ belts…it could definitely put some festivals and clubs at risk…
