LARD’s 2009 Season Begins 2/9/08

January 9, 2009

All right, it’s time to pull that Famous Star away from your pie hole.

Officially, the season will begin the first weekend of February (7th & 8th). I  am looking forward to a great year of friendship and racing!

Practice will start with land training at 8:15am on both Saturdays and Sundays.  HPC has agreed to help us this season so we’ll have lots of great stuff to do before our time on the water.  Land training is open to ALL LARD paddlers.  You don’t have to wait for this date to start training – many of us have already started.

This year, our races will include Tempe, Baby LB, Vancouver, PDBA Championships in Seattle, Long Beach, and San Francisco.  There is also the possibility of Montreal.  I am sure the captains will fill you in on these details as they become available.

For the strong and ultra competitive, there is also the possiblity of racing for the U.S. in the ICF World Games to be held in Taiwan.  For the recreational paddlers, no worries, as usual, we’ll have plenty of fun at all of our race stops.

The coaches have not, as of yet, figured out the testing days, but it’s time to re-focus and make the ’09 season our strongest yet.  We will shoot for our first test some time before Tempe so it’s going to be right around the corner.

I have very lofty goals for this season (for myself and the team) – I hope you do too.

You can’t take the day back so act (and train) accordingly.

See you out on the water.
