USDBF Politics

March 1, 2009

The following motion was made and passed by the USDBF on Thursday:

Meanwhile an organization in the US was formed on the West Coast and seems to be intent on going and supporting an ICF “World Championship.” It is seeking to recruit paddlers nation-wide. Continuing the conversation that began in the AGM, where it was discussed that this new USACK organization, known as Dragon Boat USA, can be seen as a competitor organization in the US because it has goals similar to the USDBF as well as sending teams to the ICF “World Championships”. After a lengthy discussion a motion was put forth and adopted with 6 votes for and 3 abstentions that:

No board member or member serving in a leadership role for Dragon Boat USA of USACK shall serve on the board of the USDBF or subcommittees of the USDBF board.

Nice use of quotes.  This is coming from an organization that held a “U.S. Nationals” last year with less than a handful of teams showing up.

What has the USDBF done for dragon boating besides making us sign waivers?

Uhmmmm, Bueller?
