HPC Midweeks Workouts & Erg/OC2 Testing

July 6, 2009

Enjoy the sweet pain courtesy of HPC Sport.

There will be midweek group workouts on Wednesday in Long Beach and Pasadena.  Look for emails from Otto and Meghan P.

FYI – as most of you know, optional testing is this weekend.  For the competitive folks on the team, Black seating will be very limited in Long Beach as we will be racing 18 paddlers per race and will not be carrying many, if any, spares.

If you haven’t responded to the evite yet, please do so immediately.  Testing is optional to those that have previously tested and encouraged for all those that would like to gauge their fitness level throughout the season.

If you do not wish to test, the coaches are looking for guinea pigs for some erg experiments, time permitting.

Otto will send out the schedule later this week.

Photo was taken at Granville Island. I was shocked to see a dragon boat sign!

I was up in Vancouver a few years ago for the 10th Anniversary for Breasts in a Boat — the team Dr. McKenzie started to emphasized that dragon boating was a great form of exercise for breast cancer survivors. At that time, the entire town was celebrating the event. Most stores had posters and pink ribbons. On Granville Island, they even tied Pink Ribbons on every post available. Vancouver is so supportive of the dragon boat community.
One more thing, I want to participate in any guinea pig testing. Unfortunately, I do not think as my ortho dr. stated again today, that it would be a good idea for me to stress my hip in the erg testing…I hate to admit that this friggin’ operation has hindered my physical activities.
