Wanna Race in Vancouver?

March 23, 2010

Are you on a college or high school team that has never raced in Vancouver?

Are you on a festival team that doesn’t travel to races?

Never paddled but want to try it out?

Looking for a new team?

If your answer is “yes” to any of these questions, TeamLARD is looking for paddlers to fill its 2-boat roster for the Rio Tinto Alcan Dragon Boat Festival to be held in Vancouver, BC, Canada on June 19th and 20th.

TeamLARD welcomes all paddlers – newbies, experienced, young, old, competitive, or social paddlers.  If you have a desire to paddle, we’ll find a seat for you!

If you’ve never raced in Vancouver, it’s one of of the largest races around.  The City of Vancouver is absolutely amazing and there’s nothing like racing in 8 lane heats!

Here’s a video of TeamLARD in action last year in Vancouver.

For the uninitiated, Guts and Glory is a 2000 meter races reserved for the fastest teams in the tournament.  (from 3:27 on is a must see)

8 lanes of utter chaos (TeamLARD in lane 6)  ~Rio Tinto Alcan Dragon Boat Festival, 2009.

Regardless of placing, we’ll be tending to the “Garden” Sunday afternoon.  😉

    Hey again Scott-

I’m headed to Vancouver for sure to help Kialoa paddles. I was wondering if you are are still looking for paddlers and if so, what kind of time committment you would need? If it’s cool with Meg, I’d love …no… I would bite the heads of Chickens to paddle with LARD.

Awesome, Meg! We have you down as confirmed for paddling with us in Vancouver – just as soon as you bite off that chicken head. 😉

Email me at readyandreach(at) so I can give you more info!

Hi Julia! The response we received from this post was amazing, unfortunately at this time we aren’t taking any more paddlers up to Vancouver that are not LARD members. But if seats free up, I’ll post again looking for more people.

It wasn’t too clear from your post if you wanted to race with us or join LARD on a more permanent basis. If you are interested in joining LARD, check out the team’s website
