Sending Us Out to Sea

June 12, 2011

Wow, the last few weeks have been pretty crazy.  I’ve been trying to balance my time with my sports photography, dragon boat, fitness, family and my day job.

I shot the NCAA Baseball Regionals held at UCLA last weekend for UCLA and USF.  I had a great time and I got to see some great baseball.  Too bad the Bruins didn’t advance to the Super Regionals.  I ended up shooting 5 games that weekend and had to process a few thousand photos.  I’m pretty much done but haven’t posted any of them up to my photography website just yet – hopefully soon.

This past weekend, I also had the pleasure of watching my little sister graduate from UCLA.  Our entire family is so proud of her.

I wasn’t the only one that missed the the Rio Tinto Alcan Dragon Boat Races this year in British Columbia, Canada.  Many of us had graduations to attend, bar exams to study for, or life kind of got in the way of dragon boat.  Although LARD didn’t send up our competitive team, I am absolutely positive all that went up not only had a great time but also enjoyed some fantastic racing.  Many of us were following the the live blog that tracked the races as they progressed through the weekend.

Since I wasn’t in Vancouver coaching and racing, Nick (another LARDie that didn’t make the trip up to Vancouver) and I headed out to paddle oc1 Sunday morning.  On our way out to the ocean, we were escorted by a a few locals.  I was only able to get one on film.

A local yacht owner to the left of the picture above video taped us as we passed him with the dolphins in tow.  He hunted me down a few hours later and said he’d email me the video footage.  When he does, I’ll make sure I post it for you guys.
