Why Apple is Awesome
I bought a 1TB Time Capsule in early 2009 (it was version 2 of the Time Capsule). For those of you that don’t know what a Time Capsule is, it’s a hard drive connected to a router. It’s been fairly bullet proof until today. We got back from Disneyland today and couldn’t connect to the internet.
After dealing with the disaster that is Charter Cable customer service/tech support, we isolated the problem – it was the Time Capsule’s router. I quickly got on the phone with Apple. A dude with a euro accent helped me. For some reason, that accent puts me at ease more than the accents I usually hear when calling customer support (see Charter after hours and Dell).
We went through a few tests and he told me that I had to take the unit into an Apple Store. He made an appointment this evening at the Glendale Apple Store for me so I had dinner then headed down to the Apple Store.
I was early and expected to wait until my appointment time but was pleasantly surprised when a Genius came to me about 20 minutes before my scheduled time. I explained my problem and in a few minutes, the Genius exchanged my 3 year old 1 TB Time Capsule (version 2) for a brand new 2 TB Time Capsule (version 4).
This is why I buy Apple. And this is why I will continue to buy Apple.
