Thick Skin

September 19, 2012

I grew up being offended. In high school, I hung out with a group of guys where all we did was make fun of each other. We insulted each other (and each other’s families) daily, hell, even hourly. It was never anything malicious. Just good fun.

This trend continued in college where my fraternity brothers ruthlessly ripped one another. “You momma is so fat, she irons her pants in  the driveway” was one of my favorites.

With all this bashing, I developed a thick skin and learned to laugh at myself.

Sadly, not everyone I come in contact with is  the same. This, at times, causes me to say or do things that offend people.

It doesn’t help  the world today is hyper sensitive. Everything must be politically correct so as not to offend anyone.

I say, have fun and develop a thick skin. Here’s an article titled “Stop Being Offended Today: The Cure For Everything That Irritates You“.
